Alessio Wei Chen (2016 Yenching Scholar)
Dr. Wei Chen is a Lecturer in Political Science and Academic English Writing at Wenzhou-Kean University. He earned his M.Sc. in International Relations at the London School of Economics and later studied Politics and International Relations at the Yenching Academy of Peking University, where he also served as President of the Graduate Student Union. He completed his Ph.D. in Diplomacy at Peking University with a dissertation on China’s public diplomacy and soft power in Europe.
With over six years of university teaching experience, Dr. Chen has also worked with diplomatic missions, international organizations, and media outlets. His research focuses on China’s public diplomacy and soft power, foreign policy, Sino-EU relations, the Chinese diaspora, and cross-Strait relations. Passionate about travel and cultural exchange, he speaks multiple languages including English, Italian, Mandarin, French, German, Spanish, and the Wenzhou dialect.
