Song Tianyun, China (2019 Yenching Scholar)
Charlene Tianyun Song is a doctoral candidate at IOE, UCL’s Faculty of Education and Society. She was selected as a Yenching Scholar in 2019 and received her M.A. in China Studies (Politics and International Relations) from Peking University in 2021. During her time at YCA, she interned for Princeton University Press. She now researches the history and operationalization of Area Studies (such as China Studies) in British, American, and Chinese universities. Her work is shared at several events including the American Political Science Association (APSA) annual meeting; and she reviews proposals for the Comparative and International Education Society (CIES) conference.
